Nina Mohamed Manik

In 2002, Nina Manik held her first exhibition to wide acclaim at Esjehi Gallery, Male'. Titled 'Faceless People', the works in the exhibition resonated with deeply felt emotions of loss of individuality and subjectiveness in an increasingly globalizing world. The works in the exhibition were mostly oil paintings done using a variety of techniques and materials including grains of sand to create a surface texture on the paintings.

Primarily a self-taught artist, for a brief period Nina also produced various print design items as well as souvenir art under the label Vonadhona.
