Dr. Yousef Asefi

DR. YOUSOF ASEFI
was actually trained as a medical doctor but is considered one of Afghanistan's leading artists. He is the person who used water colours to paint over figures in the paintings contained in the National Gallery during the Taliban period in order to save them from destruction. After the Taliban rule was over, Dr.Asefi was able to restore the paintings to their original form. His contribution has been well documented.
